We woke up at 5:30 am like everyday. Mascha and I looked forward for today's program because it was overnight trip at Kru Aum's place together. Mascha, Lavi, Kie and I went to buy the sport uniform for the trip in the morning then we had the morning ceremony like always.

It took around 20 minutes to get there. The house is located in Doi Saket District which is not in the main Chiang Mai city. Mr. Gai (or easy name for the Germans: Mr. Crazy Man) and Kru Aum went there with us too. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Kru Aum's family. Our program was to prepare for the project on the mountain with the hill tribe there and to be taught about the old culture of Thai Lue (Thai: ไทยลื้อ), which is one of numerous tribes in Thailand. The Germans introduced themselves in Thai language which they have learnt yesterday with Mr. Pong. Mascha's Thai name is Bua (บัว which means Lotus), Lavi's is Lantom (ลั่นทม a flower name), Sebastian's is Rak (รัก which is flower name and another meaning is love) and Christoph is Kaew (แก้ว which is also flower name and another meaning is precious stone). Kru Aum's family members all wore the traditional clothes.

In the morning we had a welcome ceremony on the house. This ceremony was to welcome and wish the guests happiness and good luck with small white holy thread around the wrist. For man it would be around the right wrist and for woman around the left side. Later they explained about the origin of Thai Lue, the overview and the main propose of this learning program. We walked around the house afterwards and the Germans tried to carry the water from the well up to the house. It was not so easy to carry water up the stairs.

We went into the backyard to collect the cotton for weaving. At that moment we spotted a papaya tree with many fruits and claimed that we wanted to eat some. Kru Aum allowed us to collect it too and we did not deny that offer.
After collecting the cotton we have to dry them up first under the sun so that the seed can get out easier. Next we put the cotton flower into a special machine which will take the seeds out. Then we take those cotton (without seeds) into wood sticks and shake it. When it's big enough we roll it and then we can finally use it to make out the cotton thread. Everyone tried to make them and Christoph especially liked the machine than the others.

We had a little break with papaya, tamarind and oranges. The Germans had never eaten tamarind before and the result is Simon loves it. He ate so many tamarinds that I hope he could sleep at night without going to the toilet every 15 minutes.
The next workshop is to create a Thai traditional paper decoration. This thing is for paying respect for the angels and also for Thai New Year festival in April. I was really bad on creating or decorating things. I had to start over for 3 times for one piece while the Germans finished two or three pieces already. Ugh I am so incapable.

Lunch time came finally as we looked forward for. But there was one thing I noticed, the time passed very fast but in the same time very slow. I don't know if you understand what I mean... Well, we were very busy with activities and did many things but it was just all the morning. It's amazing.
Anyway, we had to cook lunch for ourselves. The dish was "Pad Thai" (ผัดไท) which is one of hugely famous Thai dishes. First, the Auntie would cook as example and the Germans and Thais would cook afterwards and compete who would win. The Germans could cook even better than the Thais. T^T Such an embarrassment!

After a peaceful lunch we walked to the centre of the village where the monument of the angel is located in order to give our paper decorations as paying respect. Then we got bicycles and rode to pick up some fruits in the farm. We were thrilled with picking up the ants nest because the local people eat the ant eggs too. But unfortunately, the ant nest was too small and did not have any eggs yet. Later we went to the market. The people were very excited to see tourists in the village. They were very nice. The Germans also surprised how the people communicated with each other even though they did not know each other. Our feet were relatively dirty and soiled because we walked and rode bicycles throughout the whole village today.

Some of us made a small bike tour in the village. I enjoyed it very much because this village is in countryside and the view and everything is beautiful. When we came back, we started to cook our dinner. Some managed the vegetables (me), some cooked the sticky rice and some prepared the stove for cooking. We talked while we were working and relaxed. I liked it very much especially when the family members are all nice and friendly and warm and everything.

During the evening the Germans wore the traditional clothes of Thai Lue and they looked really good on it. We danced and sang many songs. The Germans also sang with. I find that very nice and cute :)

Good evening:)

Today is another sunny day (actually, everyday). Mascha went to school for the first time. She was a bit excited and claimed that the school is exactly the same as what she imagined before. The school looked awesome under the morning sun along with relax music.

Billy, Simon, Jinny were already there when we arrived. The others came later. The Germans were glad with the sun very much. We sat inside the school for a while and waited for the morning ceremony. Mr. Pong took pictures from the Germans and us all together, too.

At 8 o'clock was time for the national anthem and morning ceremony. It was quite something new for our guests because they don't have to sing the national anthem in Germany. Then the students prayed and it was time for the Germans to introduce themselves in front of the entire school. Mascha was shocking as the teacher told them. lol But everything went very well I think. The young students could remember their names now and were very excited to meet the Germans.

Then we walked around the school, showed them around the buildings. As we were at the kindergarden building and play park, everyone jumped into the train and played lol. I didn't expect this. It was so cute to see the big Germans in the small things.

Then we went upstairs to meet the teacher team for this program. They reviewed all the program again and gave us information about what we should prepare or how to behave for instance in the hill tribe. There were many things that we have to buy the new ones. So we have to make a list of things as soon as possible. We have to prepare materials for teaching the children on the mountain, too. The Germans were surprised as they knew that there are no toilettes on the mountain.

After this little meeting we walked to the Sanpakoi market. Fortunately, it was not extremely hot for us especially for the Germans. At first we went to the bank because some Germans had no Thai money yet. I just knew that queuing by numbers in the bank is something new for them because there are no this system in Germany. We showed them how the people live like the old houses made of wood.

We arrived at the maker and walked around. There are many things that our guests have not met before, Durian, Magarine, etc. Mascha and Lavi could not watch the fish while they were killed by a club. I understand their feelings very well. It is cruel.
We bought pork sticks with sticky rice and a bubble tea and also some snacks. Later we've found gloves for gardening for 10 bath. That is awesome because we don't have to look for gloves anymore for working on the hill tribe.

We went back to school and had a northern Thai culture and language. The Germans tried their best to learn Thai and I'm very glad. They are so cool while they speak Thai. They got their Thai names and also learned how to fold the lotus. They also dressed in northern Thai tradition clothes. I find the lesson a bit difficult but it's alright. :) I enjoy this lesson too. They learned how to greet properly and make a conversation.

Later we went to the tailor to measure for the Germans' uniforms. Mascha looked forward for this a lot. The others seemed excited, too. During the measuring was a bit of chaos lol because we were there 11 people in a small shop. The Germans looked really great in the school uniforms! I can't waitttttttt. The owner took photos with them, too. It was very warm atmosphere there.

After that we were lift to a department store to buy a sim card for the cell phones. On the way back home, Mascha fell asleep real fast. I guess she still has jet lag. Then we ate dinner together which was Tom Yam Goong. :D

Hello everyone.
So I come back with daily blogs again after not doing this for like half a year. I apologise for not updating this yesterday because I was relatively tired and fell asleep in three seconds.

Yesterday was awesome. It was such a big and strange feeling in my stomach. It was the day that we would meet our German friends again after 5 months. We all were extremely excited. I have never had this feeling before because normally for my foreign friends, I said goodbye to them and I have never seen them again. I never get used to say goodbye and neither say hello to friends that live across the world. I realised something... that I am still too young.

Jinny, Pim, James (my classmate) and I went to Chiang Mai International Airport around 12:45 pm. We had some papers with our friends' names on and also 'Herzlich Willkommen' which means warmly welcome from us, too. There were some classmates too including Tonkla and Boom. They helped us for photographing and video recording etc. It was very nice.

At 13:25 pm the time that the plan arrived. We could not just sit and waiting, so we stood up and brought out the name papers. We looked for our German friends and finally Simon, Sebastian and Christoph walked pass by. It was like someone grabbed my stomach away when we spotted them and Sebastian winked at us. We screamed out a little and were nervous. At that moment I could barely believe my eyes somehow. lol You may think that I overacted but it's my real feeling.

Finally they walked out of that gate. The time passed so slow like snell. We hugged and cried out with joy. Yeyy finally we are together again. :) Later we had a dinner at Pinky's restaurant. We enjoyed the food very much. I hope that the Germans love the food too!

Es ist so gut wieder zusammen zu sein.
It is so good to be together again.
